Mentorship - My Pledge to Give Back

Everyone has a role model, someone they look up to and want to emulate. We all had several growing up, then as life hit we started to be a bit more selective (and conservative) on our big dreams and aspirations. Some do, but many realize that by overcoming our individual challenges, in whatever small corner, we in turn are role models for those coming up: a North Star for the younger generation to learn from.

Thanks to Ghana Think Foundation's Junior Camp event, classmates and I had the opportunity to go back to Presec - Legon and engage with the young men who will fill our shoes and do better someday, very soon. #GamorLegacy

"Don't worry so much about your major; just start finding solutions to problems and you will be fine!"

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Find the person there and how they got where you want to be.

You can achieve any dream, with hard work, dedication and perseverance

Networking Soiree 2: End of Season II

If you've been following my blog and antics, you probably read or seen my numerous posts about Mpwrshow (my labor of love), then you'd realize we finished another set of episodes on Y 107.9 FM. Season 2 was about Collaborative Success, leveraging our individual strengths to promote a collective goal.

It was an amazing to start to 2014 resolution: Building Collaborative Success in finding partnerships that help us ALL get a WIN. The show is on break indefinitely, we'll do well to let you know when we're back on air. #MorePoWeR

Google Africa Connected - Mpwr

Thanks to +Amma Aboagye's timely email last year on Google Africa Connected competition, I was fortunate to share as one of the 20 success stories of young Africans powered by the web. +Funmbi ogunbanwo  & +Dan McCain  flew into Accra to record my story. I shared the video Mama Esi and my sisters they couldn't be more proud :

Google Africa Connected was an opportunity for the camera and crew to meet some amazing entrepreneurs in Accra: illustrators, coding geniuses, marketing gurus, broadcast & film makers. Through strategic collaboration, we get to use the +Mpwr  show as a springboard for #CollaborativeSuccess #AfricaRenaissance

Sesamu Otinibi Mentoring Session (Changing Inside)

Of the many hats I wear, the most important one to me is interacting with young people and sharing our collective challenges and triumphs together. I was blessed to have "adult" conversations with my father at a very young age and my fondest memories of us are the lessons I learnt by spending time with him.
Sesamu Otinibi was a project with the Global Shapers Accra Hub and the Rotaract Club of Adentan's newly commissioned library at the Otinibi Basic School. The entire project was an opportunity to spend a school day (Wednesday March 19th) getting to know and imparting knowledge with the JSS students. It was really rewarding to see the volunteers and mentors at ease with teaching/sharing/admonishing/encouraging the students.

Big thanks you's to Aquatork mineral water, Enda Restaurant, Mpwr Show on Y 107.9 FM Golden Baobab for refreshment, media and resource sponsorships respectively. They responded when many others did not.

2011 Good Deeds and more

Desmond and I were recipients of a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc scholarship in high school and being Ghanaians, we've hit it off ever since. To say we've been partners in (positive) 'crime' is an understatement.
Last year, after a trip to Ghana, Des informed me he was starting a non-profit unity bridge initiative(an organization actively vested in making a change in the lives of the underprivileged youth in Ghana).
Due to my impossibly busy schedule (at the newspaper/radio station) I declined an invitation on the organization's board and volunteered to partner with him for the Holidays Books and lightly used Clothes Drive instead. Through ads on radio, we collected boxes full of items that will go towards helping single teenage mothers on the streets of Ghana's capital, Accra. itake photos est 1985 offered 20% on all photography contracts to donors. We'll be hosting another drive soon so stay tuned for details, after all the snazzy banner has already been made ;-)
