In college we had a phrase: live like its a movie: epic!
I recently decided to have fun with some of the footage I have been experimenting/recording on my HTC cell phone. I run it through iMovie on my laptop and viola...look out for feature length behind the scenes of itake photos est. 1985 photo shoots at a theater near you, but especially on here.

2 out of the 3 times when I've taken photos of prominent black people, President Barack Obama and Donna Brazile it hasn't been premeditated. This time though a friend gave me minutes notice and thanks to my lowepro back pack that I carry around everywhere, I had the opportunity to get blog-worthy pictures of Rev. Jesse Jackson at the Willard Hotel at a media and telecommunications conference on Thursday. My thoughts when I saw the famous African American...He must be at least 6'4": that's a tall dude, TV doesn't do him justice (pun intended) :-).





I guess I can officially say I'm now about-that-DC-life.

I've been playing around with the idea of getting a website for a while now and finally settled for a decent photoblog template till I figure out how to work with flash. I'm working on a marketing scheme to promote itake photos est. 1985.

This was a fun shoot with Victoria, a friend from UF. After the shoot we concluded that even though our paths crossed briefly while I was in Gainesville, we should have made an effort to meet up more often! Now in grad school at UF, I naturally, wish her all the best.

So I've parted ways with the D80 for a few days. I've found an enclave and in the hopes of making progress in other spheres of my life, I have relegated myself to fully concentrating on studying. Yea I know, I know. I just graduated right? Well that's what happens to all who pursue [even] higher education. Anyways this is from the collabo shoot in Gainesville a few weeks back. To those who've been a fan of the blog since day 1, you may see a few familiar faces, but very different pictures.

I never was a sneaker head and from what my homeboys Wali and Eian tell me, I probably could not have afforded to. This was a fun shoot, yes in the woods somewhere. More stuff from the collabo with Edson Andre.

My boy Edson Andre and I go way back as he was there before the inception of this blog or itake photos est. 1985. A link to his website is on the right of this blog and when I went to Gainesville last weekend, I had the opportunity to make good on the promise to do a collabo photo shoot project with him. Of course his new strobe lights and equipment made me even more anxious to do so. This picture is one of the many products of the project. A special thanks to all the models who responded to the casting call.

Eddie aka Captain Ekuban, a fashion designer/painter, came by the studio and we used a glassless frame as a prop. The shoot was during a much needed break, after spending most of the day editing for the September edition of The New Ghanaian newspaper. Itake photos est. 1985, we back. [more pix here]

These past few days have been my most challenging and inspirational this summer. For starters the laptop had a virus, literally hours from getting back from the repairs! Yes I'm at a computer lab keeping the blog relevant, and recovering from the worst flu I've ever had in my life. 76 hours of tossing and turning in bed and guzzling down thera-flu, and to think that amidst all of that itake photos est. 1985 was birthed. Can't wait till the laptop and I are 100% again.

itake photos est. 1985 is my business moniker. One of the main reasons I fell in love with photography is because of the stories and events that lead up to a picture and as I continue to develop as a photographer and human being, this moniker is most appropriate as it has its own story to tell. [ask about it]
