Content is King #BlogCamp13

My first Blog Camp and  I thoroughly enjoyed the networking experience. Besides meeting old friends, I finally met faces & characters behind the blogs and tweets I follow fervently. The event was informative and one of the better attended ones that has been organized by my peers, since I've been in the country. The Kofi Annan ICT center was packed to capacity with spill-over in the hall-ways from late morning through the Ghana Social Media Awards segment of the night.

US Ambassador to Ghana whisked through and used the event out-door the embassy's new tumblr account. I got to meet Google Ghana's Estelle Akrofi-Sowah, Be Bold's Christal Jean (now Christal Beeko) and Mutombo Da Poet for the first time.

They Grow up so fast!

It is astonishing how quickly kids around you grow up. If you are introspective, as I get sometimes, you'll look at your younger siblings, cousins...and look at the older family members and wonder if they are as tickled about your growth as you are of the younger ones.

My cousin, Queenie (named after her mother) celebrated her birthday and it was an opportunity to reconnect with family members I hadn't seen in about a decade. At her party I found out that her dad, my mother's older brother used to take pictures of my mom when they were younger. Decades later, here I am taking pictures of his daughter. Who said history doesn't repeat itself?
To youth, legacy and teenage birthdays!

How I Started Blogging

If you've been following my blog over the past few weeks, this blog is nominated for "Best Photo Blog" at the Ghana Social Media Awards by the good folks at Blogging Ghana, yippee! The nominations are over and thank you to all who voted. We're waiting till March 23rd to know the results.

In the same vein, I was asked to send in a brief blurb about how & when I started blogging to the organizers of the awards, and here's is the link to my first blog post ever: >>Walk By Me<<

An online preview of my book of first year pictures here: Year One and here is the post that was posted on Blogging Ghana's website.

And my big bro NKA, and fellow nominee commented! Definitely made my day:

56 & Grateful

I've probably raved & ranted about how Ghana is equal amounts of amazing and frustrating. But today, on 6th March 2013 I'm just grateful for the freedoms and liberties of a fledgeling young democracy. Even the opportunity to be an ingrate sometimes. Happy 56th Independence Day, Ghana.
